ABOUT US

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

Diversity & Inclusion

At ATCO, we believe our people are the foundation of our business and our most valuable asset across our global operations. Without each of our unique skills, strengths, and knowledge, we simply wouldn’t be able to perform our fundamental vision of creating prosperity and opportunity for generations to come.

We support a diverse and inclusive environment where the unique contributions and perspectives of the global ATCO team are valued. Listening to, learning from, and focusing our efforts means embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as a fundamental part of our culture. ATCO is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. We are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment and to the fair treatment of all employees, to ensure that no person is denied employment opportunities due to race, religious beliefs, colour, gender, gender identity, gender expression, physical or mental disability, age, ancestry, nationality, ethnicity, marital status, family status or sexual orientation. As part of this commitment, ATCO seeks to ensure that our practices of hiring and promoting are based on merit and abilities. We collect demographic information from our workforce, where offered, to better understand the make-up and diversity of our workforce, monitor trends and results, comply with applicable employment equity legislation, comply with applicable diversity reporting for various government and agency contracts, and plan for our future.

Our commitment to DEI is underpinned by the passion of our employees, within the heart of our various business units. Our embedded grassroots, employee-led DEI committees—such as the Employment Equity Advisory Committee (EEAC), the We Belong @ ATCO group in Australia, and the Comité de DEI in Mexico—deliver valuable, topical information, resources, events, and collaboration opportunities to employees within the business units they support.

Empowered by the energy of these groups, with a desire to propel our commitment to DEI forward, ATCO introduced our enterprise-wide DEI Council in 2021, with a mandate focused on:

  • Supporting and amplifying the work of our grassroots DEI committees across the company.
  • Addressing barriers related to diversity, equity, and inclusion that may be negatively impacting our businesses.
  • Enabling conversation that is in support of all matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • The development of diversity, equity, and inclusion mentors and advocates within the company.

ATCO recognizes the invaluable role women play in shaping our company’s culture and success at every level. We acknowledge the importance of fostering a workplace where everyone feels safe, welcome, and valued. In celebration of the 2024 International Women’s Day theme: Inspire Inclusion, we brought together a diverse group of women from across ATCO to share their insights on fostering and inspiring inclusion, firsthand.

In addition to our employee-led DEI committees and our DEI Council, ATCO’s annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Conference serves as a dynamic platform for sharing valuable insights, fostering learning, and promoting thought leadership in the realm of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The established, passionate team at ATCO is dedicated to actively contributing to tangible momentum and progress within this space.
