As we are now in tax season, we want to remind you to claim all of your home renovation expenses from 2009 on your tax return to receive the Home Renovation Tax Credit. This credit applies to work completed between January 27, 2009 and February 1, 2010 that totals between $1,000 and $10,000. You will receive a 15% credit on all eligible work! For more information about the types of renovations that qualify, please visit the Canada Revenue Agency website.
Just starting work now?
Not a problem – in fact, it’s still a great time to make improvements! Although the Home Renovation Tax Credit won’t be an option for you, make sure to take advantage of available federal and provincial grants. Schedule a home energy assessment to learn how to save energy and money while qualifying for both the ecoENERGY Retrofit Program and provincial rebate program.
Through these programs, you can receive up to $1,390 for a high efficiency furnace/boiler, up to $1,312 for increasing the insulation in your attic and up to $2,187 for increasing the insulation in your basement.
To learn more about available rebate programs, visit the Grants and Rebates section of our website.
