ATCO EnergySense Energy Assessments for Businesses

Energy Assessments for Businesses

There are several different types of commercial facilities on which energy assessments may be performed, varying from recreational and industrial buildings to large-scale residential structures.

An interested customer can easily call the ATCO EnergySense toll-free line at 310-SAVE (7283), at which point they will be directed to our commercial department. During the initial conversation, we will discuss with the potential client the size of their facility and its purpose. These factors will inevitably affect the cost of the assessment and will help us to determine the benefit of having the property assessed. Once the customer has determined that they are interested in having the evaluation performed, they will receive a quote confirming the size, location and name of the facility, as well as the cost for the assessment. The quote will include an official acceptance form, which, must be signed and returned to ATCO EnergySense before the process can begin.

As saving energy is one of the main goals of the assessment, we will examine the utility data for the facility and determine current energy usage. This information will establish the energy efficiency of the existing structure, and will assist in the actual assessment of the building.

One of our experienced evaluators will then visit the location, examining the site and the equipment on which it functions. Upon observing the current systems, additional energy-saving possibilities will be identified. Once the energy evaluator has sufficiently examined the facility, a report will be created for the client.

Finally, the client will receive two copies of this report, comprised of:

  • a written summary of the current building envelope,  electrical, and mechanical equipment, as well as suggested changes towards improved energy efficiency
  • potential greenhouse gas emission reductions
  • estimated cost and savings of implementation of energy efficient recommendations
  • projected payback period of retrofits
  • detailed charts compiling current electrical and mechanical equipment
  • a breakdown of electricity and natural gas cost and consumption

The information conveyed in the final report is an invaluable resource for a commercial facility owner or manager interested in conserving energy and reducing energy-related costs.
