Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
Our services are not tied to any product, so our experts are the best source for unbiased information about reducing your energy use and making your home more comfortable. We do not provide product or contractor referrals of any sort.
1) What information do I need to make available to the commercial supervisor when I call for an assessment request?
When you call the toll free 310-SAVE (7283) number to inquire about having an energy assessment, we generally ask for the following information:• The name and type of your facility• The location of the facility• The year the facility was built• The square footage of the facility• The caller’s name and contact information
By having this information readily available, we can ensure that we collect accurate information rather than having you make guesses on the spot. This allows us to complete a detailed quality quote for your facility in a timely manner. 2) What is the cost of a commercial energy assessment?
The cost of the commercial energy assessment is determined by the purpose, size, and complexity of the proposed facility, and therefore no set pricing schedule exists. Please call us toll free at 310-SAVE (7283) and we would be more than happy to discuss your options with you, and to provide you with a proposal specific to your facility.
3) What will the end result of my commercial energy assessment be?
The client will receive two copies of the commercial energy assessment report, comprised of:
• a written summary of the current building envelope, electrical, and mechanical equipment, as well as suggested changes towards improved energy efficiency• estimated cost and savings of implementation of energy efficient recommendations• projected payback period of retrofits• detailed charts compiling current electrical and mechanical equipment• a breakdown of electricity and natural gas cost and consumption
The information conveyed in the final report is an invaluable resource for a commercial facility owner or manager interested in conserving energy and reducing energy-related costs.
4) Do you perform services outside of Alberta?
No, unfortunately not. ATCO EnergySense serves all service territories of ATCO Gas and/or ATCO Electric. To find out if you are in our service area, please visit the link below:http://www.ucahelps.gov.ab.ca/175.html
Under “Service Type” select “All of the Above”Enter the name of your city or town, and then click the “Search” key.A pop-up window will appear listing regulated providers for each type of energy. If ATCO Gas or ATCO Electric appears as distributors in that window, you know you are within our service area.
5) What grants/rebates are currently available for commercial facilities?
The ecoENERGY Retrofit Incentive is available to commercial/institutional buildings, provincial, territorial & municipal buildings, multi-unit residential buildings with particular characteristics and small to medium sized industrial facilities. The funding available includes either $10 per gigajoule (GJ) of saved energy or 25% of eligible project costs (whichever is lower). Total incentive to a maximum of $50 000 is paid once the pre-project energy audit has been completed and work has been verified. This must be a new project- no costs may be incurred before the signed Contribution Agreement is received from the government, and a pre-project energy audit is required in order to qualify for the funding.
