Timers Reduce Power Costs

Cut down on your power bill by investing in a programmable timer. Here are some types available:

Spring-wound timers:

  • save energy by automatically shutting off equipment;

  • use no electricity;

  • are hardwired into your electrical system

Portable timers:

  • plugs directly into electrical outlet;

  • are easily programmable

Self-programming light timers:

  • give your home a lived-in appearance when you are away while minimizing energy use;

  • memorize the sequence of turning lights on and off and then replay it;

  • are best used on lights that are switched on and off frequently; are hardwired into your electrical system (do not use with fluorescent or low voltage halogen lights).

Motion-sensing switches:

  • automatically turn lights on and off;

  • are popular for high traffic areas where lights are left on unnecessarily;

  • are installed easily by replacing existing wall switches;

  • increase safety and convenience (do not use with compact fluorescent lights).

Outdoor motion sensors:

  • automatically come on when motion is detected in your yard and shut off after a preset time;

  • can be combined with photocell, turning lights on at dusk and off at dawn;

  • provide safety, security and convenience.
